About the event
Tauiwi Tautoko means ‘non-Māori in support.’
We believe Tāngata Tiriti (people of the treaty—all tauiwi) have a role to play in addressing racism towards Māori from within our own communities. But research tells us fact-checking and myth-busting do not shift hearts and minds. Tauiwi Tautoko provides free training and community support to instead ‘call in’ racist comments and gently challenge and change racist views.
This online session will give you a sense of the kinds of conversational strategies you’ll learn, the impacts we see them have, and what’s involved over the course. You’ll also have a chance to chat with folks who have trained with us, who will share what it was like for them and how they apply the practice after the training.
