Welcome to this one-day gathering as we explore the transformative potential of a Te Tiriti-led Aotearoa. Te Tiriti o Waitangi organisational journeys requires us to look beyond the constraints of current colonial frameworks and imagine how our society, economy, and environment might flourish when the promises made in 1840 are finally realised. Today is about moving from theory to practice, moving our "eyes wide open; hands ready for action'.
Central to this shift is the concept of honourable kāwanatanga. For Tauiwi and government institutions, this means a deep internal reckoning with the nature of authority. It is not enough to simply include Māori vo
ices; honourable kāwanatanga requires that those in power step back to create space for tino rangatiratanga. It is a commitment to governing in a way that is transparent, accountable to the Te Tiriti relationship, and actively works to dismantle the systemic racism…
